China is installing 2.5GW of hydrogen electrolysers in 2024, beating the rest of the world combined. UK is aiming for 10GW by 2030 but has hardly reached 1% of that target and seems to be lagging. The investment required to achieve this is about £2.5 bn. To use this new Chinese green hydrogen, industries like steel, ammonia, cement and refineries are being supported by NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) to ensure success by 2030.
