A DfT project to deploy 30 hydrogen trucks on the M4 in 2026 has been revealed this week, as part of a £200M scheme to produce 370 electric trucks shared by four consortia. HyHAUL (Hydrogen Aggregated Uk Logistics) running one of the four projects project is led by Protium with several partners predicting a plan for 300 hydrogen trucks by 2030. It appears that DfT still fails to recognise the low cost and weight of hydrogen energy storage compared to lithium batteries.
