The $1bn green hydrogen project ACES (Advanced Clean Energy Storage Project) has received government support of half a billion dollars to go ahead now, completing in 2025. Renewable electricity will be fed to 200MW alkali electrolysers creating 100tons of hydrogen each day for storage in 2 salt caverns, each holding 5000 tons eventually. This is the only salt dome in the western USA, so is a huge opportunity to store hydrogen energy for the grid, reported in Powermag.com. 300GWh of green hydrogen storage is the aim.
